Commercial Sports Simulator Site Survey: Golf, Archery and Interactive Ball Games
Project-based sports attractions need an agreed room, movement and installation scope. Build the site survey before treating golf, archery or interactive ball systems as standard plug-in cabinets.
A simulator quote starts with the site
Golf, archery, robotic goalkeepers and interactive racket games can depend on a room-scale installation. The purchase may include sensing equipment, a target or screen, containment, software and substantial setup work. A product-page dimension is only useful once the supplier explains what that dimension includes.
Prepare a measured site brief before comparing proposals. Record the usable room, ceiling obstructions, entry route, floor conditions, power location, lighting, circulation and neighboring activities. Mark what is measured, what comes from the venue’s drawings and what still needs an installer’s survey. Do not approve a project from a single room-area figure.
Define which physical objects move through the space
Identify the equipment and physical activity included in each proposal: an archery target and retrieval arrangement, goalkeeper movement, golf sensing and impact screen, badminton projection or table-tennis serving and recognition equipment. Treat each as a separate system to be specified and demonstrated. A product description is not a completed site design or evidence of installation at your venue.
Each proposal needs an explicit physical activity and containment plan. Ask the supplier to show the intended player position, equipment travel, object trajectory, return or collection process and service access. Qualified designers and installers must determine the requirements for the actual system and site; do not transfer dimensions or protection measures between sports.

| System | Primary site question | Quote attachment needed |
|---|---|---|
| Golf | What swing, ball-flight, impact-screen and sensing geometry is required? | Model-specific bay drawing and complete included-equipment list. |
| Archery | How are the shooting area, target system, containment and retrieval controlled? | Qualified site design, operating procedure and installation responsibilities. |
| Robotic goalkeeper | How are ball containment and the moving robot area separated from people? | Enclosure, foundation/fixing and commissioning requirements. |
| Badminton | What player/racket movement, projection and collection space is required? | Player-area drawing, optical conditions and supplied equipment. |
| Table tennis | Where do serve, play, collection and recognition occur? | Installed layout and service access for the quoted serving and sensing equipment. |
No dimensions or protective design in this guide substitute for the supplier’s site-specific engineering.
Separate the equipment envelope from the room requirement
Ask for a drawing showing the equipment, player movement, protective structures, service space and public circulation as separate layers. Clarify whether the advertised size describes a cabinet, a complete enclosure or a suggested room. Include both left- and right-handed use if it is part of the intended offer, rather than assuming the layout supports both.
Obtain the delivery and assembly plan alongside the installed plan. Screens, frames and target mechanisms may arrive as separate packages. Confirm the largest package, assembly access and the sequence of work so finished walls or neighboring equipment do not prevent installation.
Test sensing in the conditions the venue will provide
Ask which lighting, backgrounds, sightlines or projector positions are relevant to the proposed sensors. Have the supplier define a commissioning test for the installed environment. A clear demonstration in a factory does not establish that recognition will behave the same under the venue’s lighting or reflective surfaces.
For ball-serving systems, identify the approved balls or other consumables and the normal collection routine. For a robotic system, request the calibration and service responsibilities without assuming a headline description such as AI establishes measured accuracy. Agree the functional evidence required for acceptance instead of inventing a performance percentage.
Confirm commercial software use separately from the installation
A home-oriented golf simulator listing does not establish the software and services required for paid venue operation. Identify the exact proposed edition and reconcile any differences between its described modes, player count, quotation and demonstration. Keep those questions open until the supplier confirms the commercial package and its applicable terms.
Ask for the exact software edition, game or course access, account owner, commercial-use scope, updates, recurring charges and offline behavior. Request the applicable documentation from the supplier or rights holder. Keep rights and access questions separate from the physical installation; both must be clear, but one cannot resolve the other.
Specify what the installer and operator must receive
Obtain the site drawings, installation manual, component list, operating restrictions, consumable references and service plan. Name who provides containment, floor or fixing work, utilities, calibration and operator instruction. Put excluded items in the quotation so the venue can obtain them before opening.
Ask for the instructed response to interruption, object recovery and an out-of-service condition. For archery and moving robotic equipment, require a suitable operating plan and competent supervision as specified for the project. Procurement review should obtain those procedures, not attempt to design them from a marketing description.
Accept the installed activity, then the complete handover
Agree installation and functional milestones before work starts. Record the supplied components and versions, completion of the site work, commissioning results and unresolved items. Test the intended modes in the actual environment using the supplier-approved procedure, and retain the conditions under which the result was observed.
Finish with an operator handover that staff can use: locate the approved consumables, identify a part, find the instructed stop or withdrawal procedure and contact the responsible support party. Keep remaining software access, installation or document issues visible rather than treating a powered screen as a completed attraction.
Buyer FAQ
Can these systems be quoted from room area alone? No. Shape, ceiling, movement, containment, sensing and access can change the equipment and installation scope.
Does a game’s training label prove coaching accuracy? No. Request evidence for any measurement or training claim that matters to the purchase.
Is the lowest equipment price the lowest installed cost? Not necessarily. Compare the same containment, site work, software, delivery, commissioning and support scope.
PUT THE GUIDE TO WORK
Prepare a sports simulator site brief
Share the sport, destination, measured room drawings, target audience and opening requirements. Request a model-specific installed scope with software, containment and commissioning responsibilities. For branding or function changes, describe the required behavior and provide the quantity for each selected model.
