Arcade Game Instructions: Write Clear Skill-Game Rules and Support Signs
Draft player rules and a matching staff sheet from the confirmed price, controls, outcomes and support arrangement.
Write the session in the order a player encounters it
Arcade skill game instructions work best in the order a player encounters the session: price, start, control, outcome, collection and help. Use the control names visible on the cabinet and state the available outcome before payment.
The Pink and Blue Marble models need their full scoring/output rules confirmed. Shake Ball’s supplier diagram describes red/blue prize outcomes, green replay and white no prize. Match the sign to the operating-rule version agreed for the order.
Use a compact rule-copy sheet
Fill the rule-copy sheet with the configured values and the venue’s support details. For a marble cabinet, explain what its score or returned resource means. For a prize cabinet, give separate wording for prize, replay and no-prize outcomes where those apply.
- Price: confirmed credit requirement and accepted payment method.
- Start: exact control name and when the session begins.
- Play: one plain-language instruction describing the actual action.
- Outcome: explanation of each supported result, in words as well as color.
- Collect: actual location for a prize, ball or other physical output, if applicable.
- Need help: cabinet ID and a contact that venue staff can identify and manage.
Test comprehension at the installed viewing position
Show the draft to a first-time observer at the installed viewing position. Ask them to explain what they will pay, do and receive before offering an explanation. Record the word or step that caused confusion and revise it.
For a hypothetical draft, another chance may make a reader expect an immediate free replay. If the rules mean something else, replace the phrase with the actual next step. Review glare and legibility at the same time, in each intended language.
Give staff the same rule version and a support path
Give staff the same rule version, control names and outcome wording, plus the approved response to unresolved collection. A report of displayed reward but nothing collected should lead to the specific support step for that state.
Record the rule source, language reviewer, price settings and support owner. Update the player and staff copies together after changes. Include any destination-required notices in the local review, then send the approved fields and languages with the artwork enquiry.
